Puzzle time #2

Here are four questions for you to solve.   Don't use a chessboard!   Try to work out the answers in your head.

Q1.     How many legal moves does White have if all 16 pawns are removed from the chessboard before the start of play?

Q2.     What is the minimal number of queens that can be placed on the chessboard such that every square is attacked by at least one of them?

Q3.     What is the maximum number of knights which can be placed on the chessboard so that none of them attacks another?

Q4.     Name a move which all the pieces (R, N, B, P and K) can accomplish that the Queen cannot.   (Thanks to Geoffrey Lilley of Saxmundham for this one!)

Answers on Tuesday.   You can with the answers if you like.
